We are from the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand and adopted our own gotra based on it. During the reign of Anangpal, we were the rulers of Garhmukteshwar fort, constructed by a Jat chieftain named Mukta Singh. We lost Garhmukteshwar fort in a battle and came to Rajasthan and occupied Ker, Bhatiwar and Chhawsari near Jhunjhunu. It is also said that those who fought the battle from inside the fort were called Garhwals while the attackers were called 'Bahrola' or 'Barola'.
